Step aside, Snow Miku! This time Hatsune Miku herself is getting her own themed car in the latest Daihatsu collaboration. For the 2018 Hatsune Miku X Daihatsu collab, the Daihatsu Move Canbus is getting the touch-up treatment to add bits of Hatsune Miku styling (specifically, that of KEI’s original Miku V2 design) to the vehicle’s interior and exterior.

For exterior accents, there’s the hood stripe decal in the shape of Miku’s tie, door mirror decal matching Miku’s “01” tattoo, rear quarter glass decal matching the pattern on Miku’s boots, fuel cap decal with Miku’s silhouette, and a rear emblem honoring Miku’s 10th anniversary.

For the Move Canbus’ interior touches, you’ll find even more customizations: steering wheel covers, shift lever covers, seat belt pads, rear seat floor mats, and seat covers!

Further details about the car’s availability and pricing is still to be announced, and Daihatsu will be posting updates on the official collaboration site, as well as the official Facebook page.

Daihatsu has previously collaborated with Snow Miku for the Mira Cocoa (2014) and Cast Activa (2016). Perhaps we’ll see a new Hatsune Miku x Daihatsu collaboration every 2 years? For those curious, the Move Canbus is classified as a “KEI” type car, and isn’t legal for use in the United States, and possibly other countries.

The community voting live stream events for Snow Miku 2018’s design begin tonight in about 20 minutes! Here’s several stream sources linked below where you can tune in. There will also be new figure announcements and news for Magical Mirai 2017. We’re unsure if the two sources besides Nicovideo will offer the voting interfaces like we’ve seen with Nicovideo in the past, so show some caution if you use them!

EDIT: Website voting after the streams has also been confirmed. We’ll share details in the next article!

In a recent meeting to celebrate Japan’s 160 years of friendship with France, Japan’s Prime Minister Abe stated that he hopes to expand Hatsune Miku’s reach globally.

Abe: I hope to broaden the introduction of Hatsune Miku, dance, concerts, manga, literature, anime, Japanese movie, etc.

The target event for these plans is Japonisme 2018, and he hopes to include manga, other literature and anime, but pointed out that recent culture within the country should be included. It was stressed that the “21st Century Whirlwind Japonisme” will be one of the highlight events leading to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to have the world take notice of Japan.

Not too incredibly surprising, considering Prime Minister Abe’s embracing of Japan’s pop culture. He even dressed as Super Mario during the 2016 Olympics closing ceremony.
