In a livestream held by SEGA earlier today, we finally got new details announced for Project Sekai, a new mobile game in development from Colorful Palette, a new sub-studio by Craft Egg, which developed the highly-successful mobile game BanG Dream! A new official website along with a new main visual was also launched.
Offical Site: https://pjsekai.sega.jp/
Titled “Project Sekai: Colorful Stage feat. Hatsune Miku”, the rhytm/band game is essentially a clone of BanG Dream!, but with a different story and tweaks to include Crypton Future Media’s Piapro Characters (Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin & Len, Megurine Luka, Meiko and Kaito).
One of the game’s protagonists, named Ichika Hoshino, lives in real-world modern Japan, where virtual singers exist only as virtual, just like our own real world. She somehow comes across a new world called “Sekai”, which was born from ideas. These ideas/worlds are also where Vocaloid songs were born from.
Depending on the world/thoughts, the characters can take on different appearances. The goal of each world is to discover the “name/meaning” of the songs, and work together with the Vocaloid of that world to sing the songs. This allows the song to become realized into the real world. 5 sekai worlds are planned: Band, Idol, Street, Musical and Underground.
The gameplay features original 3DPVs for each song (with an optional 2D background if you find it too distracting), and conversations between characters in a Live2D style. Hatsune Miku’s character will be voiced by Fujita Saki, with her voice tuned to sound more Miku-ish.
You will be able to freely choose between Project Sekai versions (covers) of Vocaloid songs, or the original versions of the songs while playing the game. If you choose the original songs, they will be performed by the Virtual Singers. If you choose the Sekai version, one or more of the virtual singers for that song will join the original characters.
There will be various outfits the characters can wear, and 5 levels of difficulty to appease even the greatest masters of mobile rhythm games.
Six songs have been announced for the game so far, with more to be added later. These are:
– Just be Friends by Dixie Flatline
– Sweet Magic by Junky
– Viva Happy by Mitchie M
– Miracle Paint by OSTER project
– Rettou Joutou by Reol/Giga
– Roki by MikitoP
In addition to the songs, various producers have also been announced for producing content for the game: DECO*27, Mitchie M, Giga, PinocchioP, and Mafumafu are the first to be confirmed. Mitchie M and Giga are also working together on the game’s first theme song.
