Summers in Japan can be quite dangerous for unfamiliar tourists! Extreme heat and humidity can cause heatstroke if you’re not careful, so it’s important to try to keep cool and hydrated. With the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Hatsune Miku and V-tubers such as Mirai Akari, YuNi and more will be partnering as Pocari Sweat** ambassadors to raise awareness of this potential issue.

** Pocari Sweat is a popular hydration beverage in Japan, packing sodium and and other essential electrolytes lost in sweat.

The first stage of this collaboration is a new music video titled “Nechusho No!No! feat. Hatsune Miku & MEIKO”, composed by Mitchie M! In the video, Hatsune Miku and MEIKO sing in news-reporting style about the importance of staying safe in Japan’s summer heat, and also interview popular V-tubers/singers Mirai Akari, Fuji Aoi, and YuNi. They’re even joined by Hoshino Ichika from the upcoming mobile game, “Project Sekai Colorful Stage“!

This was definitely a cute and creative way to raise awareness of “Nechusho(heatsroke)”, and we hope overseas visitors will stay safe this summer!

The “Hey MIKU!” Alexa app released to the Amazon Alexa store in Japan last November has been upgraded to improve its overall interaction and functionality. She’s also now able to sing!

The update coincides Amazon Echo’s March 30th general launch in Japan. Am,azon Echo smart speaker hardware, and thus, the Hey MIKU! app, had limited access to users in Japan until this release. Hopefully they will have worked out some of her quirks with this update. Note that using this app requires a Japanese Amazon account.

Check out the announcement video below!
