SEGA’s Project Diva team has opened a 7 day poll on Twitter to inquire Hatsune Miku fans about releasing an arcade-styled Hatsune Miku: Project Diva controller for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, or even both! The poll was likely sparked by the upcoming launch of Project Diva: MEGA 39’s for the Nintendo Switch.

Fans can vote on the poll to choose which style controller(s) they would buy. Please only vote if you would actually buy the controller! We don’t want the results getting skewed by over-excited fans. The following options are listed:

1: I want to buy a PS4 version.
2: I want to buy a Switch version.
3: I want to buy both versions.
4: I wont buy either versions.

The Project Diva team says the products listed are under consideration, and the winning choice might be produced for release in 2020. Cast your vote on the tweet below! The poll will close on July 19th at 7:00 PM JST.

It’s now July 2nd in Japan, and it’s the 10th anniversary of SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project! In commemoration of the anniversary, Sega has announced a brand new Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA title “Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MEGA 39’s” to be released as the first Project DIVA title ever on the Nintendo Switch.

The game will come with 100 songs that signifies the 10 years history of SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project, plus a newly written theme song that’s yet to be revealed. Included in the list is 10 new songs to the Project DIVA series, 2 of which were revealed to be “Alien Alien” by Nayutan Alien and “39 Music!” by MikitoP.

In addition to the 101 songs, a total of 300 modules has also been confirmed.

Speaking of modules, there’ll also be a t-shirt design contest to be made into in-game module(s). Creator(s) of the winning entry will also appear in the roll credits as well as gifted a copy of the game. The contest will be held on Piapro starting from July 5th, where a link to the contest will soon surface shortly.

As the first Project DIVA title on the Nintendo Switch, the game will also feature a unique gameplay mode in a similar fashion to Project Mirai Deluxe’s Button/Touch modes for the Nintendo 3DS. Additionally, the origin of the title will also be revealed in the upcoming July 4th edition of Weekly Famitsu magazine; we’re expecting more reveal there as well.

For PS4/Arcade players, SEGA says some of the new content from MEGA 39’s will also come to Future Tone.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MEGA 39’s will be released for Nintendo Switch in early 2020 in Japan. For the first on-hand experience on the game, be sure to visit Sega booth at Hatsune Miku: Magical Mirai 2019 in Tokyo on August 30th~September 1st to try your chance on the demo!

DIVALLER Controller Sample Image

Leave it to a smaller, independent controller creator to make what might be one of the better looking controllers out there for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva games. Hong Kong based 3rd party controller maker GAMO2 appears to have done just that with their teaser of the “DIVALLER” USB controller for PS3, PS4 and PC platforms.

The controller button layout, as well as the inclusion of an actual arcade-style slide bar, might make for one of the most genuine arcade-like gameplay experiences for Project Diva players at home. Here’s to hoping this controller will function as well as it looks!

Being 3rd party, this controller is unofficial and purposely avoids any direct references to Hatsune Miku, minus the hairband and twin-tail decoration on the controller face. But Hatsune Miku fans will know quite well what this is for, and that means the design nailed it.

The controller is expected to be released around 4th quarter of 2019 for a currently unspecified amount, according to GAMO2 on Twitter. The design may also not be finalized yet, so be sure to watch for updates.
