After various event cancellations postponements around the world during 2020, Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai 2020 in Osaka is the next to face the heat to prevent further spread of COVID-19. Originally, ticket purchases to foreign visitors was blocked due to the virus concerns, but the current situation within Japan has forced further action by the event organizers.
An update to the official website announces that the event originally planned for August 7th~9th 2020 has now been postponed to an unknown future date. Those planning to attend are asked to please wait for future announcements regarding the new event and concert dates. Already purchased tickets will be able to carry over to the new date, and refunds are also being prepared for those no longer able or willing to attend the new event dates.
There is no word yet on postponement of the Tokyo event, which is still currently scheduled for December 18th~20th. Ticket information for this event has also not yet been announced.
More About Magical Mirai 2020 in Osaka
Magical Mirai 2020’s theme is “MATSURI”, with Osaka having a Summer theme, and Tokyo having a Winter theme. The gorgeous and festive main visual art for Osaka’s event was illustrated by Fuzichoco, which also has a subtle hint at December’s event in the reflection at Miku’s feet.
The event was scheduled to take place from August 7th~9th at the Osaka Intex for the exhibition, and August 8th~9th for the live concert performances.
The theme song titled “愛されなくても君がいる” was composed by PinocchioP, and was previously teased in a 16 second announcement CM. The full song release might also be held off until a more solid timeline for the event has been reached.
