Hiroshi Utsumi, the supervising producer for SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project, has resigned from his position at Sega as of June 30th, according to the official SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project blog post.
The blog post containing a message from Utsumi to the fans thanking them for their continued support, and states:
“I think everyone could guess a number of reasons [why I left], but it is not that I have to do something serious, or cannot take the responsibility, or am more or less tired,” Utsumi said. “This is just my own selfishness in wanting to challenge new fields, and I give my utmost thanks to this company and my team members who have heard me out.”
While the project’s supervising producer is leaving, the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series is getting two titles due for release in the second half of this year: Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X for Japan and North America on August 25th and 31st, respectively, and Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Live as a PlayStation VR launch title on October 13th.
Lastly, Utsumi also promises that SEGA is working on “various projects” in celebration of Hatsune Miku‘s 10th anniversary in 2017.
