Today is a fantastic day for those who are fans of Tripshots or even HSP (Hiroyuki ODA). The newest PV that’s been teased for months on end on Tripshots’ website and twitter has finally been released.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen any sort of high profile video production from Tripshots. It’s also been a while since we’ve heard any new Vocaloid related composition work from HSP, who happens to be one of my top favorite Vocalectro producers. Having these two work together on a project was my dream team. Except this time it actually happened.

The video features Tripshots’ newest Hatsune Miku model, adorned in a full Append outfit (shoes included, gasp!). Quite a bit has changed in this model compared to his other productions, most notably in the facial features. The hair also looks more natural and less “plastic-ey”. There is quite a bit of visual work as well for the environments and effects.

As for the music itself, the lyrics were written by Chu-ji and the composition was done by HanasoumenP. It’s been a couple years at least since I’ve seen him use such an aggressive tone for a Vocaloid piece. The vocals are done using Hatsune Miku’s appends, but the primarily used vocal style is Miku’s Dark Append, another favorite of mine. What can I say? I like everything about it.

Please enjoy the official video below from Tripshots’ youtube channel.

Nicovideo version also available here.

It is known that Project Diva F for the PS3 will feature 6 new tracks that are not included in the PS Vita version of the game, as well as a few new modules. Two of these songs, according to a report by SG Cafe, will be “Tell Your World” by kz(livetune) and “Sweet Devil” by 8#Prince(HachioujiP).

Both songs are iconic and highly popular to members in the Vocaloid community, so the addition of these songs are likely to make quite a few fans happy. They will NOT be using the PVs animated by Director Wakamura, and will instead feature all new PVs by SEGA. Head over to SG Cafe for the full details.

Project Diva F for the PS3 is scheduled for release on March 7th 2013. Pre-order bonuses will include the “tokusei lovers” trading strap. Pre-orders are open on Amiami and CDJapan. Enjoy the official PVs of both songs below.

On December 30th and New Year’s day in Japan, Hatsune Miku will be performing live on-stage at Countdown Japan 1213 with the young, but highly popular and talented, producer named TeddyLoid. TeddyLoid started working with music at a young age and started a highly successful career as a DJ and music producer at age 15. He had his first world tour at only age 18, and he is currently 23 years old.

Both performances will be 30 minutes in length. The first performance starts on December 30th at 1:00 PM JST, and the second will begin at 1:35 AM JST on New Year’s day (January 1st). Countdown Japan is Japan’s largest rock countdown festival for the new year.

There are currently no plans for any streams, but event information and time tables can be found here and here.

So… Who wants to take a guess at when will we finally get Miku to sing for our New Year’s festivals?

This event was certainly… Different. It’s nothing like what any of us have experienced in past concerts, and the fact they live streamed it for free was amazing as well.

The concert featured around 300 people that were either playing instruments or singing. In fact, most of the singing was done by actual people rather than Miku herself. Miku had a much lesser role in this event than she did in previous concerts, and she seemed to take a spot as more of a cast member rather than as the star of the show.

Due to the balance of how an orchestrated concert works, it’s understandable that Miku couldn’t have as much of a major role as she would with a traditional Vocaloid concert. But with as much hype as this event had, I think some of us were expecting a little more. It almost even seemed like Miku was only included as an add-on or gimmick to lure more viewers. But there’s actually a very different possible reason (explained below).

Miku herself made an appearance as a Tda MikuMikuDance model and sang certain segments of vocals of the concert. The vocals themselves may seem a bit off to people, but there is actually a VERY good reason for this: This is the first concert where Miku’s vocals were composed in real-time on a YAMAHA keyboard. It’s not prerecorded or “flawless” like the vocals would be with a traditional Vocaloid concert. This is also likely why Miku had a much smaller role.

Isao was the founder of electronic music using an electronic keyboard (synthesizer). So it seems that this event was a demonstration or display of a technology similar to what was demonstrated many months ago, all to honor Isao’s iconic art style that helped reshape the future of music.

All in all, I really enjoyed the performance, and you should give it a watch when you have an hour or so to spare. You can watch the official recording of the concert below. The event starts at around 29 minutes into the video.

EDIT: I’m sorry, but the Dommune channel has set the concert video to private. You can read a brief image story on Tokiko’s blog: [Link]

Those of you who saw the Miku winter event stream, what did you think of it? While a lot of what we saw was already spoiled a few days ago, quite a bit of it was new and previously unheard of.

For those of you who missed it and forgot to set a timeshift, you can find a summary of the event along with images on Virtual Emotions. It is a spoiler if you’re planning on watching your timeshift reservation.

The next livestream event in roughly 17 hours is the orchestrated concert on youtube. See you there!
