After some teasing and much hype, SEGA of America has finally announced the Western release for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X for the PlayStation Vita, and even the upcoming PlayStation 4 version! Both versions are due for their Western release in Fall 2016, likely around the time of Japan’s Diva X launch for PS4. The game’s story mode screen appears to have had its name changed to “Cloud Screen” for its Western release (“Live Quest” in the Japanese version), so keep this change in mind when reading the summary below.

According to the English summary, the game’s narrative centers on Miku and her friends undertaking various requests as they explore the five Clouds that make up their world. For the Miku veterans, Project DIVA X has 30 songs and 300 modules (costumes) that get dropped. Available exclusively on the PS4 and PS Vita, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X will release in physical and digital formats this Fall. The official Project DIVA X website is now live at http://miku.sega.com/divax.

In Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X, the world is comprised of five unique Clouds, each with its own aura – Classic, Cool, Cute, Elegant, and Quirky. As Miku and her friends progress, the auras of the songs they perform and even the modules they choose will have a profound effect on fulfilling challenge conditions for players to test themselves with. There’s also the newly added Concert Editor, which lets players create their own mini-concerts from the songs, modules and accessories they collect. As players take on Requests and explore Clouds with Miku and her friends, they begin to forge relationships, and ultimately, will reveal the secret of the eponymous “X.”

The game will be available in the Americas in Fall 2016 for the PS4 and PS Vita in both physical and digital formats. News of a European release is still pending. Check out the official trailer and photo gallery below! Screenshots are from the PS Vita version.

SEGA’s Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X seems to have received a warm welcome for its launch in Japan, and managed to sell about 70,000 copies in its 4 day run last week after launching on March 24th. This is sadly far below the 154,000 that Project Diva f managed to sell in its first week. However, it was enough to secure the #1 spot in PlayStation Vita game sales last week for Japan, as well as #3 best-selling game overall for the same week. It was behind only Dark Souls III for PS4 (218,764 copies) and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 for 3DS (375,612 copies). These are the sales estimates for the week of March 21st ~ 27th.

The game may be getting a Western release, if yesterday’s tweet by SEGA is anything to go by. The PS4 version is scheduled to launch in Japan sometime in Fall 2016, likely around the same time Sony’s PlayStation VR is scheduled to launch.

It’s been less than a week since Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X has launched for the PlayStation Vita in Japan, and many fans in other countries have been asking “When will we get a localized version”? The answer to this question may be “Soon”, if this tweet posted earlier today by SEGA is anything to go by:

The above image is both weirdly random, and too specific and coincidental with timing. SEGA is all-too-familiar with the Cryptonloids and their favorite food items. The Negi (spring onions) stands for Hatsune Miku, the Orange and Bananas are for Kagamine Rin and Len, the Ice Cream is for Kaito, the Sake is for Meiko, and the Tuna is for Megurine Luka.

Think we’re crazy? We’ll find out soon enough!
