With the launch of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X (Vita version) now in the past, fans of the Diva series are now waiting for more news of the PlayStation 4 version launch. SEGA obliged today with the first official game video, along with a surprise announcement: The launch date has been pushed forward from its original Fall 2016 launch, to a new launch date of August 25th, 2016! Rather than releasing as what we hoped would be a PlayStation VR launch title, the game will instead launch sooner, and add a later update to support PlayStation VR for the live edit mode after its launch. The launch price will be 7990 Yen.

The game also has a new official title: Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X HD. This is likely to help give the title more differentiation compared to the Vita version (the previous Diva F 2nd was named the same on Vita and PS3). The finalized game art has been illustrated by KEI (seen above), and is now visible on the official game website. A Snow Miku DLC module pack was announced for early buyers: Between August 25th and September 25th, a DLC pack containing Snow Miku versions 2010~2015 can be downloaded completely free! This pack will also be made available for the PS Vita version.

The “cool” element medley named “Cyber Rock Jam” was featured in the new video, and confirms the game will be running at a smooth 60 frames per second, a first for a home console Project Diva game. The shadow and lighting detail also seems improved, but the model detail seems largely unchanged.

The English versions for PlayStation Vita and PS4 are still slated for a Fall 2016 release, unless SEGA releases new announcements regarding changes for those versions. Other than that, what do you guys think of the news announcements for Diva X HD? Are you more excited or disappointed?

pjdx_strangerScreenshot of “Stranger” PV and “Silent Voice” module revealed at Tokyo Game Show

SEGA made announcements today at the Tokyo Game Show that revealed some new information regarding Project Diva Future Tone (the Arcade to PS4 game port) and Project Diva X.

To start, the PV for “Strangers” from Project Diva X was revealed (screenshot above), and also confirms that two past game modules will be returning to the game: Honey Whip and Neko Neko Cape (Kitty Cape in the western version of Project Diva). Additionally, the new official promotion art for Project Diva X was revealed, and was unsurprisingly illustrated by KEI, popularly known for illustrating Hatsune Miku V2, and all other Project Diva video game cover art to date.

The SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku Project series supervisor, Utsumi Hiroshi, also stated that the PlayStation 4 port of Project Diva Arcade: Future Tone (titled Project Diva Future tone for PS4) will feature “a package showing chivalrous spirit”, as a gift to fans as thanks for their support. This hints at, but doesn’t fully confirm, the massive 200+ songlist for the PS4 port. 1080p resolution and 60fps will also be preserved for the PS4 version. The exact release period in 2016 still hasn’t been confirmed. As for further monetization of the game, they’re still working out ideas. We’d be inclined to believe that all future song releases for Arcade will be paid DLC for the PS4 game.

Hiroshi also mentioned the team is still trying to figure out how to map the controls to the PlayStation 4 controller buttons, since trying to hit all 4 symbols at once would “kill your thumbs”. We expect an Arcade-style controller release to accompany the game to also be a possibility.

During the live stream, a number of songs were played in the background, and one in particular caught our attention: Nebula by Tripshots. Since Tripshots is one of the confirmed producers for inclusion in Project Diva X, we believe this is likely the song of his that will be featured in the game.

On the topic of Project Diva X, a few more details of the game were recently announced via Famitsu and SEGA. There are two new modules revealed for the game: “Judgement” designed by Tama, and “Silent Voice” designed by Tokichi. These modules are used for the songs Love Trial by 40mP, and Strangers by HeavenzP, respectively.

The update mentions that the new “Quest” mode of the game can also allow the unlocking of modules, songs, stages, accessories, etc. It can also allow you to obtain modules in a new way. By means of clearing the “chance time” events, you can now have a chance at unlocking a new module instantly by having it “drop” during the song, as opposed to buying it from the shop like you normally would in past games. Alternatively, you can also unlock these items using the more traditional “free play” game mode.

The voltage meter now replaces the typical song progress bar of past Project Diva games, although it’s unclear if this applies to just Quest mode, or Free Play mode as well. It works fairly similarly to the old progress meter, to where you need to reach a certain minimum voltage percentage to pass the song.

Outfits now interestingly have attributes, which can affect your “voltage” in gameplay, making it either easier or harder(?) to complete a song. Confirmed module attributes: Silent voice (COOL), Original (NEUTRAL), Judgement (CUTE), Honey Whip (BEAUTY), and Neko Neko Cape (CHAOS). Items/accessories are also confirmed to have attributes. It seems that Project Diva is adopting some RPG gameplay elements?

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone has been announced by SEGA and Sony today via the SCEJA stream. The news has been teased many times as SEGA has been showing interest in making a similar game to Project DIVA Arcade for home consoles since last year, as well as the poll held in April this year.

The teaser trailer was showcased at the event, and showed many familiar features from the arcade version such as the hold bonus and multiple buttons hold bonus. The game is set to release for sometime in 2016. Below are screenshots we’ve gathered from the stream, and reveal a brief moment of the gameplay.

An early news from Famitsu via Hachima Kikou has (reportedly) introduced new features, modules, and songs for the upcoming title Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X in 2016. The three new key features are “Live Quest mode”, “Module Drop”, and “Rush Notes”.

The Live Quest mode is a quest system newly introduced to the game, and listed on the bulletin board in Diva Room. The quests may vary depending on the areas, where they’re five areas in total. By “filling” up the power of song, the quest is progressed and eventually passed when a right amount of “Voltage” is met.

By completion of the quest, an event will trigger conversations among the characters in the quest. Additionally, if the quest conditions and “Chance Time” are both cleared, players will be rewarded with a random module. This is known as the “Module Drop” feature, and will be in place of the traditional method with diva points (specific modules tend to drop from certain quests).

Another feature to mention is the “Rush Notes”, where it establishes an alternative for players to gain higher scores. This can be done by pressing the corresponding buttons repeatedly when the word “RUSH” appears on the screen.

Lastly, three songs and modules have been revealed for the game: “Love Trial” by 40mP (Judgment), “Raspberry*Monster” by HoneyWorks (Raspberryism), and “Strangers” by HeavenzP (Silent Voice).

EDIT: With the official site update, we have confirmed the details of the early leak. In addition to the above contents, the live quest mode will also reward  music, stages, and accessories. Miku and friends will level up as the quest completion increases. The Rhythm Game mode will now be known as Free Play mode, and the game will have 30 songs in total.

It’s said that the game is at 39% of its development stage.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X will be released on PS4 and PS Vita starting from Fall 2016 and March 2016, respectively. Visit the official website.

In celebration of Hatsune Miku’s 8th anniversary today (it’s now August 31st in Japan), SEGA has announced the newest Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA title in the series: “Project DIVA X”, which is the 10th Project DIVA game release to date. While little is known regarding the new project, several interesting points have recently been revealed.

The game will be available on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita platforms, with releases set for Fall 2016 for PlayStation 4 and March 2016 for PS Vita. For Magical Mirai 2015 participants, a Project Diva X game demo will be available at SEGA’s booth during the event from September 4th~6th.

The game’s theme song will be composed by Ryo, and we already have at least one game song confirmed: Raspberry*Monster by HoneyWorks (with the module designed by Aki Akane). A new gameplay mode called “Live Quest Mode”, which promises a new exciting way of playing the rhythm game.

In addition, a teaser screenshot has been released by SEGA via their Hatsune Miku Project blog. Below is a trailer released by SEGA, revealing some of the music producers and illustrators for the next game title:
