Snow Miku 2017 & Yukine Finalists Revealed, Web Poll Announced

The Snow Miku live stream was carried out tonight with many fascinating news to reveal. The live stream opened with recaps, from Magical Mirai 2016 to Project DIVA series for PS4, then moving on to highlights of Nendoroid Co-de: Hatsune Miku “Sweet Pumpkin” and Snow Miku 2017 & Yukine design voting.

The colored prototype for Nendoroid Co-de: Hatsune Miku “Sweet Pumpkin” was revealed, with preorder and release date announced for May 24th and October, respectively. Below are images showing the prototype nendoroid as presented in the live stream.


The Snow Miku 2017 & Yukine finalists for this year came down to six designs each. Unlike the previous years, this year’s voting took place in live stream and web voting. The web poll will remain open until May 25th, with the final results to be announced at Magical Mirai 2016 on September 9th~11th

Recent News Recap: Isao Tomita Passes Away, Snow Miku 2017 Art Entries Close, Magical Mirai 2016 Concept Art Released

The past week has been riddled with news bits that we didn’t have time to write about right away, so this is a recap article to cover the notable events that we have seemingly otherwise missed.

Isao Tomita, a largely recognized Japanese music producer, passed away on May 5th 2016. He is often regarded as the pioneer and forefather of the electronic and synthesized music we see today, thanks to his unique vision and productions in the 1960s and 70s using sequencers and synthesizers. Thanks to the rise in popularity of synthesized music, this later led to the birth of synthesizer software, which includes Vocaloid, and of course, Hatsune Miku.

Tomita became recognized by many Miku fans for his work with Ihatov Symphony in Tokyo in 2012, which for the first time combined a virtual singer with a philharmonic orchestra. This performance toured several locations around the world. The next project in planning was Tomita’s “Dr. Coppelius” with Hatsune Miku, which was due to premier in November of this year. After careful consideration, it has been decided that the project will be completed and held as planned.

Did you like Miku’s Magical Mirai 2016 outfit design as much as we did? The concept art behind the main visual has been released, and his now available on the Magical Mirai website! This will help make the creation of fan art much easier, as well as cosplays. We’d definitely like to see more of those!

Is it just me, or does each Snow Miku design collaboration seem start earlier every year? Regardless, if you’ve wanted to try your hand at contributing a design idea for official Snow Miku 2017 and/or Rabbit Yukine adoption, now’s your chance!

Between now and May 11th at 5:00 PM JST, illustrators and fans alike can pitch their design ideas for Snow Miku 2017, her pet rabbit Yukine, or both! The theme for Snow Miku 2017 is “Starry Sky/Image of constellation in a Hokkaido Winter Night“! By that logic, Winter Night Miku would have been perfect for this…

How To Submit

To submit your Snow Miku or Rabbit Yukine designs, please make sure to have an account registered on Piapro.jp. Next, create your Snow Miku design in nendoroid form! You can use this provided template, if needed. Rabbit Yukine illustrations are completely freeform.

Start the submission process by clicking “新規投稿” from the top menu of Piapro.jp, or by clicking here. After uploading your design, please add these tags to your artworks, and be sure to lock the tags! Locking the tags is very important for the submission process.
