I am happy to announce that MikuFan.com staff will be returning to Anime Expo again this year from July 3rd~6th, and we will be hosting another prize giveaway! This year, we are collaborating with We Love Fine to host an event called #WeLoveMikuFan, where we will hand out Hatsune Miku T-shirts to winning participants of the event.

The shirt up for grabs has the “I Am Your Melody” design, an award winning illustration by Krit for the fan design contest. Click the image below for details.


 

How To Participate

During the convention, I will tweet hints to our location at random times. You can see these hints by following MikuFan.com on twitter (@jrharbort), or by following the hashtag #WeLoveMikuFan

After you have successfully located our position, you will be awarded with a voucher that can be redeemed at the WeLoveFine company booth (tables 1219, 1221 and 1223) in the Anime Expo Exhibition Hall.

Prize quantities will be limited, so don’t miss out! See you there!

The official Figma Blog has released images and details regarding the release of the Figma Racing Miku 2013 EV MIRAI ver. The figma design is based on the illustration by Saitom, and was the official mascot character for Good Smile Racing’s electric bike racing division in 2013.

The Figma itself will come with two different facial expressions, and a wearable helmet and water bottle accessory. It is purchasable as a standalone product, not part of a GSR sponsorship package. The price is set at 4,800 Yen ($47 USD), and is expected to ship in October 2014. The “ex:ride” scale bicycle, manufactured by FREEing, is available as a separate accessory with the price set at 6,264 Yen ($62 USD). Both are available for order starting tomorrow, June 26th JST from Good Smile Company’s online shop.

If you would like your Hatsune Miku artwork featured on the most popular search engine website in Japan, Piapro is collaborated with Yahoo! Japan to create a new Hatsune Miku theme for their mobile search app. The collaboration seeks artwork to be used as a skin for the Yahoo! Japan smartphone app, and will be made available in late August.

Rules for applying are as follows:

  • Character in theme must be Hatsune Miku.
  • Any number of submissions can be made per person.
  • Submit design in .jpg format, but keep the .psd file if selected as the winner.
  • A template and varisous assets are provided for use, but the template must not be changed in size.
  • Edit the copyright watermark to replace “000” with your own artist name.
  • The Hatsune Miku logo from the .zip file must be placed anywhere in the footer illustration of the artwork.
  • All artwork must be within the Creative Commons for Hatsune Miku and no other copyrighted images may be used.

Submit your entries to the the Piapro website, and instructions for the submission process are as follows:

  • Before submitting a design, click on the Edit Tags button 「編集」.
  • Copy and Paste (do not type) the tag 2014yahoo into the space for tag entry.
  • Click 「ロックする」 to lock the tag, adding it to your submission.
  • Check to see if the submission follows all guidelines, and browse other submissions for reference.
  • Confirm that the Lock Icon is on the left-hand side of your tags, and submit.

Entries will be accepted until July 14th at 17:00 JST. Good luck!

If you happen to be visiting the largest Anime and Japanese pop culture convention in North America this July, you may be interested to hear that SEGA will have a booth demoing the English version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd at Anime Expo, as well as another “surprise”.

There is no word yet on if they also plan to host a panel. But if they do, be sure to remember these words: “Miku Maji Tenshi”. Lastly, I will have announcements soon regarding MikuFan’s visit to Anime Expo, so please stay tuned!

July 2nd 2014 will mark the 5 year anniversary since the release of the first Hatsune Miku: Project Diva game for PSP, after which many new games followed. To celebrate the occasion, SEGA will be throwing a memorial event at the Tokyo JOYPOLIS center from June 23rd until July 27th. SEGA’s official Hatsune Miku Project site also got updated with a new look: http://miku.sega.jp/

Many of the activities available will be quite similar to the previous DAIBA de DIVA event. You will find many similar dining menu items themed around Crypton’s Vocaloid characters, ride attractions, game prizes and live entertainment activities available. The 1st floor main stage will be playing promotional videos daily. These include ODDS&ENDS, Tell Your World, and a 3rd secret song. Visitors attending the event on July 2nd at 7:00 PM will get the chance to see a special talk show featuring Hayashi Seiji (Project Diva series producer), Osaki Makoto (Project Mirai/Project Diva Arcade series producer) and Utsumi Hiroshi (SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project supervising producer).

As a bonus, your entry fee to the memorial event will get you a memorial T-shirt containing KEI’s illustrations for all 7 game releases so far. These are only available as long as supplies last.
