We are adding a new featured category to our site for Hatsune Miku fans to enjoy: Illustrations! The huge illustrative community behind Hatsune Miku is undoubtedly one of her largest staples. So with that, we’d like to begin by sharing “Ballet Miku”, an original and creative idea from KD on Pixiv. The strong up-front lighting and gentle blue hues gives the illustration a rather mystic atmosphere.

Follow the preview below to view the full-size artwork on Pixiv, and be sure to comment, rate and bookmark the illustration to show support for the illustrator!

Project Mirai DX, the unique 3D rhythm game developed specifically for the Nintendo 3DS™ system, will now launch on Sept. 8, in North America and Sept. 11 in Europe from SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe, Ltd. respectively. The game will be available in stores and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS for the originally announced price of $39.99USD or $49.99CAD in North America.

In North America, SEGA will offer a special physical Launch Edition at retailers nationwide. This launch edition of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX will include the game, premium outer box packaging, and a wallet chain designed after Hatsune Miku’s iconic belt – a simple and stylish way for fans to represent their love for Miku. All copies of the game will include 19 double-sided augmented reality (AR) cards that show off additional dance moves and costumes.

In collaboration with Good Smile Company, a popular Japanese figure company, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX features Miku and all of her friends in their Nendoroid figure style.  The game features 48 full-length versions of fan-favorite songs players can challenge themselves with by trying to match the rhythm in “Tap Mode” and “Button Mode,” each with multiple difficulty levels, which can be further augmented with challenge and support items.

But the rhythm game is just one facet of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX – players can also customize a virtual apartment for their favorite Miku character with decorations, seasonal items, and more. The Mirai Theater has replay functions so players can watch their favorite videos and add scrolling commentary. Choreograph entirely new routines by making new moves in the Dance Studio, and compose brand new song phrases in My Tune. This info can all be shared on customizable Profile Cards, which can be shared via StreetPass™ and kept current via SpotPass™.

Since last year we’ve been waiting eagerly to see the next destination for Miku Expo, and the announcement finally came. The next Hatsune Miku Expo destination has been settled on Shanghai, China via SCLA, with more detailed information to arrive at later date.

This comes as a surprising and uplifting news, as China has been known for their bans/restrictions*. Including the Symphony IHATOV with Tomita Isao on May 20th, Miku will visit China twice this year. For information on the symphony performance please refer to our previous article

*Current Chinese laws ban Japanese animation with the following themes: Homosexuality, sexual, Porn, Violence, Dark-Side Heroic, and Anti-government. Many Hatsune Miku songs can fall into these categories. For this reason, many Chinese fans find the possibility of a live Hatsune Miku concert in mainland China to be nearly impossible.

A fresh and unique song selection can likely be expected for Miku Expo in Shanghai.

EDIT: Now officially announced with two-hour concert, as well as surprise(s), along with an exhibition area of 800 square meters via Miku Expo on weibo. Promotional poster and Miku QR code also released. Official website: http://mikuexpo.com/shanghai

VOCALOID STORE was an official store operated by third party company “Bplats” under license by Yamaha. The store has been providing services since 2010, and will soon close its Japanese store on May 26th at 17:00 JST.

The English store will remain in operation, however.

It’s advised for customers who have purchased digital contents on VOCALOID STORE to store their installer and serial codes, as they will be inaccessible after the closure.

Following the closure news, Yamaha has recently announced the new Vocaloid store named “VOCALOID SHOP”, hosted on the VOCALOID NET site. The shop currently aims to provide digital downloads for VOCALOID libraries and editors, hosting Job Plugins, and more to come later.

Despite the closure, purchased products via VOCALOID STORE under Yamaha brand will be available at VOCALOID SHOP for free download (non-Yamaha products are in negotiation). The shop is expected to open later this month.
